Mr. James Leeder-Botnan was a ProStart student who graduated in 2012 from Sauk Rapids-Rice High School and pursued a culinary career. 

A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, MN, James has worked in the industry at some very high-end establishments such as 6Smith and Kings Inn. He currently is the Executive Chef at McGarry's Pub in Maple Plain. 

James has served as a ProStart team mentor for the last 6 years. His growth in the industry started in the classroom and he says it is time to give back. As a result of his passion for helping students find their place in the industry, he offers students internships and opportunities to learn firsthand what life in the kitchen is like. 

The most recent example of his mentorship is represented by Ms. Samah Tariq, a ProStart student who graduated last year from Sauk Rapids-Rice high school and went to work with James at the Pub. She is thrilled to work with the talent of James and find her passion in the industry as well. Samah is currently enrolled at St. Paul College and studying culinary.
